UK hut list

There are a large number of simple climbers' huts around the UK, in some of the best outdoor locations. They are an excellent alternative to camping or renting more expensive accommodation.

Most UK huts are owned by individual mountaineering clubs and unlike alpine huts they are not open to the general public. Some clubs only accept bookings from other climbing clubs and may require you to be BMC-affilited, but others are happy to accept a few honest sounding climbers. Bookings or enquires should be made in writing with plenty of notice.

Huts are generally simple affairs, and you can expect to find basic bunks but no bedding, simple cooking equipment and if you are lucky an open fire, hot water and a shower.
